Abstract

494,004. Sealing leading-in wires into glass. EGYESULT IZZOLAMPA ES VILLAMOSSAGI R. T. April 21, 1938, No. 11971. Convention date, April 22, 1937. Addition to 404,566, [Group XI]. [Class 36] In sealing gas-filled electric lamps by enclosing the glass evacuating and filling tube within a sleeve or envelope of material having a higher melting point, and heating this sheath to soften the enclosed tube, which is sealed by effecting a change of shape, as described in the parent Specification, one or more current leads are located' within the softened tube so that they are sealed in position simultaneously with the sealing of the tube. The softened evacuating- tube is preferably compressed along the direction of its axis to effect the sealing. The sleeve may be made of an alloy containing chromium or nickel, or both these metals.
