Abstract
504,874. Sealing leading - in conductors. VEREINIGTE GLUHLAMPEN UND ELEKTRIZITATS AKT.-GES. June 25, 1938, No. 18919. Convention date, June 25, 1937. Drawings to Specification. [Class 36] Lamp bases are manufactured by sealing leading-in conductors, in the form of wires or foils of refractory metal, into a hard glass or quartz glass capillary with two ducts by a glass-fusing operation which, in itself, establishes complete hermeticity. Tungsten wires may be sealed in directly ; or, molybdenum foils connected to tungsten or molybdenum wires may be introduced into the capillary which is then sealed off at one end, evacuated, and heated at the sealing points with an oxyhydrogen flame, the projecting ends of the capillary being then cut off. The capillary may be formed by sealing a rod into a flattened tube of the same glass, or by simultaneously flattening a tube and sealing therein a previously introduced rod.
