Abstract

493,729. Fusible cut-outs. LIGHTFOOT, S. L., (trading as STANDARD FUSE CO.). June 16, 1937, No. 16730. [Class 38 (i)] An electric cartridgefuse comprises a cylindrical insulating member 1 of porcelain, for example, closed at its ends by metal terminal caps 2 and carrying in addition to one or more fuse wires, a fine indicator wire 7 located in a fine rectilinear longitudinal channel 3 near the surface of the member 1, one or more cavities 6 in the surface intersecting said channel. Preferably at least one of the cavities is located near the middle part of the member 1. At least one cavity, preferably the one near the middle of member 1, is filled with a highly combustible material such as gunpowder, and is covered with a sealing strip of material which is affected in a perceptible manner by heat. The channel 3 may contain a filler.
