Abstract

A diffusing-reflecting paint for walls, ceilings, kinematograph projection screens, &c. comprises stable crystals as of zinc phosphate in a varnish or other vehicle. The crystals may be from 1/100 to a few tenths of a millimeter in size, and may be fluorescent (e.g. anthracine), or be mixed with fluorescent material (e.g. bisulphate of quinine); or the paint coating may have an under-coat or over-coat containing fluorescent material. The crystals may be applied in suspension in a binder (e.g. cellulose varnish); or an adhesive paint layer may first be applied on which the crystals are applied as by spraying, or in a dilute varnish or solvent for the subjacent layer. Application as a water paint is mentioned.ALSO:A diffusing-reflecting paint for walls, ceilings, kinematograph projection screens, &c. comprises stable crystals as of zinc phosphate in a cellulose varnish. The crystals may be from 1/100 to a few tenths of a millimetre in size, and may be fluorescent (e.g. anthracine) or be mixed with fluorescent material (e.g. bisulphate of quinine). An adhesive paint layer may first be applied on which the crystals are applied in a dilute varnish or solvent for the subjacent layer.
