Paints.-An oil paint comprises a pigment composed of titanium compounds, in particular titanium oxide, a vehicle consisting principally of a drying oil and a small proportion of cellulose nitrate. According to an example, a paste made of titanium oxide and raw linseed oil is gradually mixed with a solution of cellulose nitrate in butyl acetate or other suitable solvent such as amyl acetate : linseed oil containing any usual dryer is then added. The titanium oxide may be carried on an extender base such as barium sulphate. The paint can be prepared as required by the addition of the oil vehicle to a paste composed of titanium oxide pigment, a drying oil and a solution of cellulose nitrate.
