[Class 125 (i)] A non-refillable bottle comprises a bottle neck having an inwardly extending shoulder 12, Fig. 1, a non-refillable stopper device having an outward concavity adjacent to and with a flange 22 enveloping the shoulder, and a locking member 60 conformed to the cavity in the stopper to prevent distortion or disengagement of the stopper. A casing 10 is provided with a frusto-conical lip 16 bent downwardly. A resilient washer 16 serves as a seat for a buoyant ball valve 19. A weight 20 presses on the ball 19. Preferably the side walls of the casing 10 are reduced at A, B, C, Fig. 7, forming channels 24, 25, 26 to accommodate uprights 31, Fig. 8, which act as guides to the ball and weight. A member 44, Fig. 1, holds the uprights 31 in place and acts as a baffle. The parts are assembled and a top member 60, Fig. 1, is inserted friction tight. The assembly is then placed in a bottle neck and pressed or spun against a shoulder 65 and ledge 12. The stopper construction is assembled after the bottle is filled. The bottle is closed by a screw cap 70. Alternatively the member 60 might itself be closed by a screw cap. In a modification, Fig. 10. the casing 10 is as before and guides 33 somewhat similar to the guides 31, the difference residing in a baffle 82, stud 84, and disc 86. In a further modification, Fig. 17, the casing 10 is of two diameters with a shoulder 93 to support a modified baffle. The guides for the valve are formed by making incisions in a band to form tongues 101, 102 &c. the weight 104 above the valve 19 is also modified, as shown.
