Abstract
823,312. Closures for non-refillable bottles. LLANO J. S. DEL. May 6, 1957, No. 14302/57. Class 66. A closure for a non-refillable bottle comprises a chamber 3 extending into the neck of a bottle, a valve member 7 slidable in a port in the bottom of the chamber 3, a superimposed weight 5, and guide means 4 for the weight 5 comprising a circular plate with a downwardly directed circular boss grooved longitudinally about its periphery. The boss extends into the chamber 3 and the circular plate portion can seat on the walls of the chamber 3, the cylindrical boss being formed with a central cavity into which extends part of the weight when the bottle is upright. The guide means 4 can move axially in a chamber formed by the part 3 and a top component 3<SP>1</SP> having a spout 3<SP>11</SP>. An outer casing 2 permanently secures the whole assembly to the mouth of a bottle 1. As shown the weight 5 has a grooved underside and an upper conical projection. In a modified construction the weight 5 is a ball. The member 4 may comprise a metal plate with a boss of synthetic plastic material secured thereto. Alternatively the member 4 may be shaped from rust-proof steel.
