Abstract
771,097. Non-refillable containers. SILICANI, J. B. D. L. Aug. 17, 1955 [Aug. 17, 1954], No. 23673/55. Class 66. A non-refillable container, Fig. 2, has a neck stepped on the inside so as to progressively decrease the internal diameter from the rim downwards, the lowermost step forming a seat for a valve 8, there being a ball 9 on the valve 8, a head piece 7 fitting in a recess in an intermediate step whereby the headpiece 7 is spaced from the wall 12 of the container above the intermediate step, and an apertured plug 5 abutting the uppermost step and maintaining the head piece 7 in position. The valve 8 has outer axial channels 20 and the headpiece 7 has lower radial ports 23 staggered with respect to upper ports formed by projections 21. When the container is inverted, Fig. 3, the valve 8 and ball 9 drop as shown and the contents are free to flow from the container. The head piece 7 has a recess 24 such that when the container is horizontal, Fig. 4, the ball 9 is caused to wedge the valve 8 into a closed position. The plug 5 may be fixed in position by an adhesive or, if an intermediate resilient washer 25 is used the plug is held in position by a metal sleeve 26.
