Abstract

530,069. Closures for containers. ROBINSON, J. B. June 15, 1939, No. 17507. [Class 125 (iii)] A container 10 of paper or cardboard has an internal bead 12 at its mouth which is closed by a push-in metal cap 11 having a flat top 11a and a dependent peripheral wall 11c recessed to fit the bead 12 as shown in Fig. 3. The lower end 11e of the wall 11c is tapered so that it can be pushed past the bead 12. In a modification the top of the cap has a very shallow recess over most of its area, and in the modification shown in Fig. 5 the main part of the wall 11c is curved convexly and its greatest diameter passes just below the smallest diameter of the bead 12. In another modification the wall 11c is substantially cylindrical.
