Abstract

490,983. Rotary meters. SHEVLIN, J. T. (Wassermesser-Patent-Ges.) Dec. 1, 1937, No. 33239. [Class 110 (ii)] In a meter having a gyratory piston 9 and a fixed partition 2, and normal inlet and outlet ports 4, 5, additional inlet and outlet ports 1, 15, are provided in the casing wall to decrease the velocity of liquid entering and leaving the meter. Holes 10 allow liquid to enter the piston interior. The ports 1, 15, may be axially displaced in the casing wall. Inside the piston is a transverse web 11 from the centre of which bearing members 11a project on each side of the web. These members move around annular walls 11b which extend throughout the measuring chamber 14. Additional ports may be provided in the periphery of the piston, on each side of and close to the partition 2.
