Abstract

629,331. Rotary liquid meters. HYDRAULIC RECORDING INSTRUMENTS, Ltd. and CORBETT, R. H. S. May 8, 1947, No. 12530. [Class 110(ii)] In a liquid meter of the type having a cylindrical measuring chamber containing a rotary piston co-operating with inlet and outlet openings formed in the flat end walls of the measuring chamber, the piston driving an indicating mechanism, the measuring chamber has its axis substantially horizontal. The measuring chamber comprises a hollow cylinder 16 and end plates 17, 18, clamped between shoulders 29, 30 formed on the two halves 10, 11 of the casing. Inlet and outlet ports 25, 26 are formed in the end plates 17, 18. The rotary piston 15 is connected by a pin 22 to a rotary disc 21 so as to gyrate about the axis of the disc. The pin 22 drives a disc 28 connected to the indicator gear train. The gear train may include a dog clutch 47 to facilitate assembly. A screen 31 is preferably provided at the inlet. In a modification, the cylinder 16 forms a part of the outer casing.
