A dry gas meter has the gear box a<SP>1</SP>, for the worm and worm wheel g which is driven by the usual double throw crank shaft c which operates the meter gas valves d and is operated by the meter diaphragms through the usual flag rods e, attached to or formed as an integral part of the underside of the meter cover m. The coupling at f allows relative lateral movements between the crank shaft c and the worm shaft a. The worm wheel is carried by a shaft h which passes through a stuffing box (not shown) and drives the meter index. Specification 795,446 is referred to.
