Abstract
490,399. Electron beam valves. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and BRETT, G. F. Feb. 20, 1937, No. 5154. [Class 39 (i)] An electron-oscillator tube comprises a gun system, an oscillating electrode through which the beam passes, and a retarding electrode. As shown, the gun comprises a cathode K, a slotted modulating grid G and a slotted anode A, an oscillating electrode OE, which may be a slotted plate, a flattened cylinder, or a pair of parallel wires, and a retarding electrode C. A screen may be placed in front of the anode. The potential of the retarding electrode may be the same as that assumed by the " virtual " cathode, i.e. the potential of the electron stream at the anode A. The electrodes except the cathode may be duplicated to give a push-pull arrangement.
