Abstract
488,252. Carrying ignition leads on internal - combustion engines. TITEFLEX METAL HOSE CO. Dec. 31, 1936, No. 8067/38. Convention date, Jan. 23, 1936. Divided out of 488,195. [Class 36] In a multicylinder internal - combustion engine having multiple ignition, separate metal manifolds are provided for housing and screening the ignition conductors of each ignition system. In the construction shown, metal manifolds 5, 6 are arranged on each side of the crank case of an engine having radial cylinders 1, each of which has spark plugs 3, 4. The manifolds 5, 6 are connected to magnetos 11, 10 respectively by flexible metal conduits 13, 12, whilst the plugs 3, 4 are connected respectively to the manifolds 5, 6 by metal conduits 15, 17. The conduits 13, 15 and the manifold 5 house and screen-ignition conductors connecting the plugs 3 to the magneto 11, whilst the ignition conductors associated with the plugs 4 and magneto 10 are screened and housed bv the conduits 12, 17 and manifold 6. The manifolds and conduits are preferably constructed as described in Specification 488,195.
