[Class 39 (i)] A discharge tube the anode of which is closed at one end and forms part of the envelope has the leads to the cathode and the grid or grids taken through the sides of the tube in the vicinity of the open end of the anode, the leads also serving as supporting members for their electrodes. In the form shown, six terminals are arranged in the plane A-A, two, 16, 17 serving for the outer grid 8, two for the cathode 5 and the others for the grids 6, 7 all of which are contained in the anode 1. A tubular screen 19 may also be provided.
