Abstract

347,544. Photo-electric cells. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13A, E mmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. July 5, 1930, No. 20435. Convention date, July 24, 1929. [Class 39 (i).] A gas or vapour filled photo-electric cell has a grid 6 arranged at a distance from the cathode 2 equal to or less than the free path of an electron in the filling. The grid is raised to a potential not greater than 10 volts, and preferably 1-5 volts, so as to prevent electrons returning to the cathode. The filling may be argon or neon at a pressure of 1 mm. of mercury. The anode 4 consists of a ring through which light passes. Specifications 319,650, [Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc &c.], and 343,930 are referred to.
