Abstract
500,459. Discharge apparatus. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS'GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Feb. 5, 1938, No. 3712. Convention date, Feb. 8, 1937. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] An ionic relay comprises an incandescent cathode and a control grid which can extinguish a discharge current of 0À2 amps., com. pletely separates the anode from the cathode, has a spacing not exceeding 0À4 mm., and is arranged from the cathode at a distance which is greater than the normal cathodic space but is small enough for the cathodic dark space to fill the gap between the grid and cathode. The Specification contains numerical examples of gas pressure, electrode spacing and of the grid apertures; the filling may consist of argon. The tube may comprise an indirectlyheated cathode, a grid which is supported on the cathode by insulating rings, and two anodes.
