Abstract

487,448. Buckles. WALKER, Ltd., T., and WALKER, G. T. March 24, 1937, No. 8587. [Class 43] A buckle of the " castoff " type (shown in rear view in the Figure) comprises a frame 1 bearing a rigic prong 5 and an intermediate cross-bar 4 upon which is hinged a lever member 8 bearing at one end an arm 8a and at the other a hook 10 engaging with a loop 11. The perforated end of a belt is passed through the frame from in front of the plane of the Figure, the prong 5 engaging with one of the perforations and the loose portion of the perforated end being passed behind the cross-bar 4 and in front of the end bar 3. The other end of the belt, bearing the loop 11, is engaged with the hook 10, thereby causing the arm 8a to press against the prong 5 so as to prevent disengagement of the perforated end of the belt. The single prong 5 may be replaced by two prongs engaging two holes and the hook and loop 10 and 11 may be replaced by other " cast-off " fastenings.
