Abstract

485,412. Television ; valve circuits; electron multipliers ; cathode-ray tubes. COMPAGNIE POUR LA FABRICATION DES COMPTEURS ET MATERIEL D'USINES A GAZ. March 20, 1937, No. 8292. Convention date, May 23, 1936. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 22, 1937.] [Classes 39 (i), 40 (iii), and 40 (v)] A cathode-ray tube and a multi-stage electron multiplier tube are combined in a single envelope, and comprise a photo-electric cathode, signal control grid G, and multiplying electrodes M, feeding a spherical electrode C<1> forming the final anode of the multiplier and the secondaryemissive cathode of the cathode-ray tube. The time-base circuit B is controlled by synchronizing signals derived from the penultimate multiplier electrode which is divided to form a condenser m, m<1>. The frequency of incoming signals may be changed before amplification in the electron multiplier. A common high voltage source is provided. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also an arrangement of separate electron multiplier and cathode-ray tube fed from a common H.T. source which may also supply a further multiplier for the sound signals. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
