[Class 100 (iii)] Magazines.-In machines in which the magazines are carried in a pivoted supporting- frame D, which can be raised to permit the removal of a magazine over the assembler entrance I, the pivoted arms L, on which the magazine is supported during removal and replacement, are automatically moved into operative position by the adjustment of the frame D. The base-frames B of the magazines A are, as heretofore, fixed to side-plates C, so as to form a shift-frame, which is adjustable in the supporting-frame D, to effect the positioning of a magazine. The arms L, which are connected together by a rod L<3>, are connected by an arm L<5> and a link L<5> to the supporting- frame, so as to be actuated thereby. Each magazine is retained on its base-frame by the usual lugs B<1>, Fig. 3, which are engaged by a cross-bar A<1> on the underside of the magazine, and, in addition, by a cross-bar M engaging behind a pair of spaced members M<1> on the base-frame, the members having interlocking tongue-and-groove parts, to prevent upward movement of the magazine. The arms L have guideways L<4>, to receive plates N projecting from the sides of the magazine, and retaining- plates L<7>, which overlie the guideways for a part of their length, co-operate with the plates N to prevent tilting of the magazine. When the plates N have cleared the retaining-plates, the magazine can be tilted into the vertical position and suspended by the plates N from lugs L9 on the arms L.
