[Class 39 (i)] A mosaic for deriving signals in a television set consists of a number of photo-conductive elements 13 deposited on a continuous film 12 carried by an insulating plate 11 ; the elements 13 which may be of selenium are capped by metal 14. The elements are scanned by a cathode ray and have an optical image directed on them, so that the varying conductivity of the elements due to image lighting will give the necessary signals, which are taken from a resistance connected to the film 12. The elements 13 and their metal capping may be deposited on the film through the interstices of a removable fine mesh grid.
