483,416. Sewing-machines. MAUSERWERKE AKT.-GES. March 31, 1937, No. 9211. Convention date, April 3, 1936. Addition to 415,270. [Class 112] Two pieces of fabric are joined by a seam which comprises stitches passing through the folded edge of one fabric and through the flat edge of the other by feeding the flat edge at a lower level than the folded edge. The apparatus of the parent Specification is modified by feeding the two pieces of fabric at different levels, the work support being modified to effect this. The flat edge of the fabric m is supported on the laterally movable work support a carried in the arm A. This support has a recessed part b adjacent to the throat plate l which supports the folded fabric edge n. The fabric edge n is held on to the throat plate by the presser foot d and the flat edge m is held in the recess by an adjustable sole c secured by a screw e to the presser foot. The edge of the sole c acts as a guide for the folded edge n, so that the needle blind switches the fabric n and passes through the fabric m.
