483,255. Projectile fuzes. JUNGHANS, H. March 2, 1937, No. 6234. Convention date, March 4, 1936. [Class 9 (i)] A safety device for projectile fuzes comprises an abutment slide b for the striker a, an inertia member d adapted to set back against the action of a spring e when the projectile is fired, and a member c which normally locks the slide in the safety position and which is moved to free the slide by the member d when the latter is moved forwardly by its spring. In the construction shown, the slide and the plate g upon which it is mounted have recesses b2, g<1> for the passage of the firing pin. The slide is normally held in the locking position shown by the member c which consists of a resilient ring embracing a reduced end of the member d and engaging in a keyhole-shaped slot b3 in the slide. When the member d is moved forwardly by its spring it carries the member c with it and its reduced end enters the slot b<3>. The slide is thus unlocked and is moved by a spring f or by centrifugal force to a position in which the recess b<2> is disposed beneath the firing pin.
