Abstract

482,021. Yarns or threads. THERMOLUX GLASS CO., Ltd. March 25, 1937, No. 8884. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1936. [Class 120 (iii)] A yarn or thread is produced by preparing a lap of fibres crossing at a substantially constant acute angle, stretching the lap in a direction transverse to the general direction of lie of the fibres and simultaneously or subsequently subjecting the stretched lap to twisting. In preparing such a yarn of glass fibres, strips 15, Fig. 2, are cut from a lap produced as set forth in Specification 463,582 and the strip is then passed through tension rollers 16, 17, 18, Fig. 4, and stretched and twisted by being wound on to a bobbin 19 which is rotated about its own axis and also about an axis normal thereto. Dressing liquids may be sprayed on to the strip 15 during stretching.
