Abstract

440,755. Knitted fabrics. PICKLES, Ltd., R., Cairo Mill, Burnley, and LEPINE, L. J., 6, Hesketh Drive, Southport, Lancashire. Nov. 16, 1934, No. 32980. [Class 74 (ii)] Knitted fabrics or articles are produced from filaments or threads of rubber latex &c. in combination with a covering of one or more textile yarns or threads, the components being presented to the machine in a condition of suitable tension after the lubricatory treatment of one or more of the components, the covering of the elastic component by the textile component being wholly or partially effected by the knitting operation in the machine. The elastic filament is kept substantially free from tension until required for use and is then tensioned uniformly immediately prior to its combination with the textile threads. The lubricant may be tri-cresyl phosphate or potash soap in methylated spirits. A textile thread may be twisted on a rubber filament prior to the passage of the same through the lubricating bath, by unwinding the covering filament from an inverted conical container through which passes the elastic thread drawn from a container arranged tandem-fashion with the other.
