Apparatus for making filaments. - The stretohspinning apparatus described in the parent Specification, according to which the threads are passed through a hardening bath while not under tension, is modified by interposing a diverting or reversing device between the spinning apparatus and the positively driven roller which conducts the thread into the bath. As shown, a glass rod or the like 7 is interposed between a spinning apparatus 1 and a positively driven roller 8 which conveys the thread into a bath 6, the thread being wound on a reel 9 running at the same peripheral speed as the roller 8. A bobbin or a centrifuge may be used instead of the reel 9.
