Abstract

299,038. Bemberg Akt.-Ges., J. P. Oct. 20, 1927, [Convention date]. Ammoniacal - copper cellulose solutions, processes and apparatus for making filaments from.- The manufacture of artificial silk from ammoniacal-copper cellulose solutions by the stretchspinning process is so conducted that the threads leave the spinning funnel in a plastic condition and are subjected to a second considerable stretching after leaving the funnel. This second stretching may take place before or during the final hardening with acid. Suitable apparatus comprises a spinning funnel 1, Fig. 1, from which the thread passes round a guide-rod 9 to positively driven rollers 2, 3, the roller 3 rotating at a greater speed than the roller 2. Acid is supplied to the roller 3 from a channel 4, and the stretched thread is guided by a roller 5 to a centrifuge 6. The rod 9 may be dispensed with and the roller 3 replaced by a bobbin rotating in a trough fed with acid, or the thread may be treated with acid on its way from the roller 2 to the bobbin. Alternatively, the rod 9 and roller 2 may be replaced by a system of rods which conduct the thread in a zig-zag path and are so arranged that their stretching action does not 'extend backwards to the spinning funnel. Specification 212,068 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the second stretching may take place immediately after the acid treatment. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
