Abstract
481,225. Arc rectifiers. HELLMUTH, F. H. Jan. 4, 1937. No. 255. Convention date, Jan 4, 1936. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXV] An arc rectifier comprises a solid or liquid cathode and one or more main anodes each of which is arranged in the path of an auxiliary discharge The auxiliary anodes may be connected intermittently or permanently to a continuous-current source or to an alternating-current source which may lead in phase the main supply. In a three-phase rectifier the auxiliary voltage of low magnitude may lead the main voltage by 120‹. The container may be of glass or metal and may be provided with anode arms.
