Abstract

479,155. Converting. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and PRINZ, D. G. Nov. 6, 1936, No. 30271. [Class 38 (ii)] Comprises a rectifying arrangement in which an uncontrolled thermionic cathode valve 6 is in series with a controlled liquid pool cathode valve 7. By this means the liability to back ignition of the valve 7 is prevented by the series connected valve 6. Fig. 1 (Prov.) shows a polyphase rectifying arrangement having thermionic cathode valves R arranged in Graetz connection and a discharge device M capable of conducting in either direction associated with each pair of reversely connected valves and having ignition electrodes K1, K<1>1 for determining the moment of ignition.
