480,829. Cable systems. OKONITECALLENDER CABLE CO., Inc. Dec. 1, 1936, No. 7056/37. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1935. Divided out of 478,850. [Class 36] [Also in Group XIII] In an underground electric distribution system comprising a pipe line 1 containing insulated conductors 2 connected to transformers 3, the conductors and transformers being submerged in oil 7 with which the pipe line is filled, a cooling tower 15 is disposed above each transformer to dissipate heat generated in the transformer and communicated to the surrounding oil. The hot oil passes from the pipe line to the cooling tower through a pipe 14 communicating with the pipe line at a point above the transformer, whilst a pipe 16 communicating with the pipe line at a point below the transformer returns the cooled oil to the pipe line. The tower may be surrounded by jacket 18 having air outlets 19 for providing a circulation of air past and in contact with the tower.
