Abstract
480,302. Moulding pipes &c. centrifugally. KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSCHE HOOGOVENS EN STAALFABRIEKEN N.V. July 19, 1937, No. 19909. Convention date, Aug. 3, 1936. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A centrifugal casting - machine having a lined mould 1 clamped between rotary heads 2, 5 is driven at a speed greater than the first critical speed during casting, and ,the mould is supported at about its middle by flexible rollers 15 which absorb the unbalanced forces. The rollers are carried by levers 13 operated by toggles 17 and pivoted hydraulic cylinders 21. The moulds may consist of commercial iron or steel pipes 7 to 10 mm. thick with heads, bearing rings &c. welded on and they are rotated at 11200 to 13200#1/D revolutions per minute, where D is the outer diameter of the pipe in millimeters.
