[Class 83 (i).] Moulds; castings, extracting.-A centrifugal metal-casting machine having a bottom mouldplate c, ring b and top plate a is arranged so that the bottom plate or a part c<1> thereof can be moved vertically in relation to the ring and after the removal of the top plate, to eject the casting. The ring b and plates a, c may be hollow and supplied with cooling fluid by passages n, g<2>, i and pipes m, which is discharged through passages k, el, e<3>. The plate c<1> is operated by a piston and fluid supplied by a three-position valve h which also controls the cooling fluid. In a modification the top plate held, so as to be capable of rotation only, by pillars p, Fig. 2, having fixed pistons p<1> on which move fluid-operated cylinders r carrying a hollow spindle d<3> and shaft t which is rotated by a key driven by gearing u engaging slots d<2>, t<1>. The spindle d<3> carries the mould ring b and the shaft t the bottom plate c, the slot t<1> being of such a length that, when the ring b is lowered after casting, the plate c is arrested to eject the cast ring. The thickness of this ring may be varied by rotating a stop nut w<1> on a threaded part w on the shaft t by hand-operated worm gearing w<3>, by insert. ing distance pieces, or using rings c of different thickness.
