Casting-machines; moulds; clamping moulds. -Centrifugal machines for casting metals of the type in which the mould is rotated about a vertical axis coinciding with the vertical runway, have mould segments f moved radially and a clamping plate g moved vertically. The six segments f are moved by bolts i having lateral slots engaged by crank blocks j which are rotated by pinions m. Three piston rods n are provided with racks to engage the six pinions m and are operated by compressed air from a supply y through a hand operation valve v and passages u<1>, w<1>, s<1> and u<2>, w<2>, s<2>. The rods n have shoulders n<3> and heads n<2> which serve to raise the plate g after the segmemts f have been withdrawn and to clamp it when the segments have been moved inwards. The segments f and surfaces of plate g and table are shaped to give article required, such as a toothed ring, or, if desired, a chill or other base for the mould may be positioned on the table. In modifications the segments f are pivoted or operated independently of the plate g and both may be operated mechanically. Provision may also be made for circulation of cooling medium. In another modification the table is moved vertically while the plate g remains stationary.
