Abstract

473,034. Casting-machines. LITTNER, F. June 19, 1936, No. 17139. Convention date, Dec. 6, 1935. [Class 83 (i)] Compressed air is admitted to a centrifugal mould 1 during pouring in order to prevent an uneven inner surface of the cast pipe &c., due to spurting globules of metal. A supply pipe 7 with an interchangeable nozzle 8 may be fixed to the pourer 6. The air pressure should be at least two atmospheres above normal, and the size of the nozzle be varied according to formulae given which take account of the size, thickness and temperature of the casting.
