Abstract

476,866. Casting-machines. BOLTON & SONS, Ltd., T., and CHILD, G. W. May 12, 1936, No. 13375. [Class 83 (i)] A pipe is made by pouring molten metal into a rotating mould 1 having a core 14 and withdrawing the solidified pipe continuously. The mould has a heat radiating fin 5, a driving pulley 3, and a non-rotating reservoir 31 for the molten metal, carried by a counterbalanced slide 6 which can be clamped to its guides 8 by screws 9. The core is free to rotate in its supporting and counter-balanced slide 17 and has a brake drum 49 engaged by a belt 48. The mould bottom comprises an annular plug 33 having a recess 34 to be engaged by the molten metal and adapted to be moved down by a slide 37 engaged by a screw 38 driven by gearing 44, 41 and a belt.
