Castings; casting-machines; moulds. - The inner face of a pipe, for instance, being cast in a centrifugal mould is smoothed bv a co-axial mandrel 13 rotating with the mould. The mandrel is carried bv a rod 14 which is rotated bv grooves engaged by sliding feathers 18 carried by arms 16 adjustably secured to the mould. Axial movement of the rod 14 is. prevented by collars 20 on either side of the'bearing 15 so that the mandrel remains adjacent to the pourer 7 during the axial movement of the mould.
