Casting-machines.-Pipes &c. are centrifugal cast in machines in which the mould is not driven positively, but rests on two rotatable supports, one of which is driven. The mould E has flanges E<1> resting on drums C<1>, C<2> D<1>, D<2> on shafts C, D. The shaft C is driven through gearing by an electric motor F, A hand-lever K controls the movements of the mould bv means of a clutch G and brake J. The drums C<2>, D<2> are long to accommodate moulds of various lengths and the drums C<1>, D<1> are flanged to prevent endwise movement of the mould. The drums C<2>, D<2> may be made short and adjustable along their shafts. To accommodate moulds of various diameter the distance between the shafts may be varied bv means of removable blocks M<1> and screws M. The mould is prevented from rising by rolls L, Fig. 2, at each end carried by an arm L<1> adjustable in height. Moulds.-The mould has end covers E<2> with central openings the size of which determines the thickness of the casting. When casting a pipe flanged at both ends, breaking pieces E<4> are employed to prevent damage from shrinkage of the casting. The body of the mould is made in halves. Clamping moulds.-The body of the mould is made in halves clamped by rings. A machine for two moulds is shown and described.
