Abstract

478,771. Spray carburetters. STEWART-WARNER CORPORATION. Jan. 23, 1937, No. 2041. Convention date, Jan. 28, 1936. [Class 7 (iii)] [Also in Groups XI and XIII] Fuel is supplied to the carburetter of an automobile heater from the float chamber 104 of the engine carburetter. The chamber 104 is connected by a T-piece 116 directly to the carburetter and to a chamber 122 which before use becomes full of fuel. The limb of the T-piece connected to the chamber 104 contains filters and a very constricted passageway, and the end of the T-piece connected to the chamber 122 contains a passageway 132 constricted but considerably larger than the other constriction. A tube 128 extends into the chamber 122, and contains a small opening 130. When the valve 238 is opened, owing to the relative sizes of the constrictions, more fuel is drawn from the chamber 122 into the carburetter than from the float chamber 104. The level of the fuel in the chamber 122 falls until fuel is drawn from the chamber 122 only through the opening 130 and finally, when the chamber 172 is heated up, the fuel is drawn only from the float chamber 104, and is mixed with air coming from the chamber 122. In the carburetter, the fuel passes through openings 150 into a Venturi-tube 142 into which air passes through the screen 146 and throat 144. Further air is admitted .through openings 152. A shield 154 is provided.
