Abstract

In making iron-nickel alloys of the kind which may include 30-80 per cent of nickel and cobalt, up to 13 per cent of copper, up to 8 per cent of molybdenum, tungsten, and chromium, up to 3 per cent of vanadium, titanium, and silicon, up to 2 per cent of manganese, and iron the remainder, the alloy is melted in an atmosphere at greatly reduced pressure and 0,005-0,3 per cent of one or more alkaline earth or rare earth metals is added to the melt.
