Abstract

<PICT:0475558/III/1> A still-device comprises a lower boiler portion and removable upper reservoir, the lower surface of which acts as a condenser with a second communicating reservoir beneath it having non-condensing surfaces. Condensate is led off at 19 through a pipe 9 in a vessel to which cold feedwater enters at 5 and passes out at 7 to a main reservoir 8. A second inclined reservoir 11 is jacketed at 14 and communicates with the other by passages 12, 13. The upper unit is mounted on a boiler unit 2, a water-seal joint 3 being used. The boiler 2 is maintained at constant level by the device 17 which is fed by a pipe 16. A cover 4 made as a series of rings serves for the reservoir 8 or when the latter is removed for the boiler 2. The apparatus may be constructed of tinned copper or stainless steel.
