[Class 61 (iii)] An adjustable sliding- jaw wrench usable as gripping pliers or a hand vice, comprises a body 5 provided with a fixed jaw 7 and a projecting handle 9, a carriage 13 slidable transversely in the body, an adjustable jaw member 15 provided with a projecting jaw 17 and rack teeth coacting with an adjusting worm.19 mounted in the carriage 13 and a lever 33 pivoted to the body at 35 and pivoted at 37 to a toggle link 39 connected at 41 to the carriage 13. The closing movement of the handles is limited by a projection 44 or an adjustable screw stop.
