Abstract

474,015. Directive wireless signalling. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. May 27, 1937, No. 14752. Convention date, May 27, 1936. [Class 40 (v)] Relates to radio direction - indicators of the kind in which a frame aerial is rotated in synchronism with a glowlamp, the latter being energized by the incoming signal so as to give a constantly-visible bearing line. The invention consists in the provision of a blocking circuit designed to separate a desired signal from interfering ones. As shown in the Figure, the aerial R and glowlamp indicator G are rotated synchronously, and the pick-up signals are fed through an amplifier E and note-frequency filter F to the glow-lamp. A local oscillator O controlled by an auxiliary aerial HA feeds impulses of the same frequency as the desired signals to a valve forming part of the filter circuit F. Or a locally-produced heterodyne note may be used for the same purpose. The impulses serve to remove a prohibitive bias from the valve so that the filter is opened to pass the desired signals but not the others.
