[Class 40 (v)] A receiver is disabled for the duration of a disturbing impulse or has its amplification considerably reduced, so that the disturbance is not heard in the reproducer. As shown, a device such as a glow-discharge relay or a dynatron is arranged in the aerial circuit and responds to an excess voltage to operate the relay e, d to short-circuit for a small time period the loud-speaker c. The time constant may be adjusted by varying the values of the relay winding e and a condenser f in parallel therewith. The disabling of the receiver may alternatively be accomplished by damping a tuned circuit or varying the grid bias of one of the valves.
