Abstract
768,088. Radio receiving circuits and apparatus. TRUVOX, Ltd. Feb. 24, 1955 [Feb. 24, 1954], No. 5482/54. Class 40(5) A device for converting an audio amplifier for radio reception comprises a telephone-type jack plug 4 the body 1 of which is enlarged so as to contain a crystal receiver. The body 1 may be cast in metal, or of plastic material sprayed internally with a metal coating. The receiver comprises aerial terminal 12, a dust-core R.F. transformer 5, trimmer condensers 6, 7 and station-selecting switch 8, and a crystal detector 13. The trimmers 6, 7 may be adjusted through apertures 10. The aerial' is connected to a primary winding on the transformer 5 through a low-pass filter 16 and the detector 13 to a teriary winding, the secondary being tuned to one station by condenser 6 and condenser 7 added in parallel for tuning to a second station. A telescopic aerial may be mounted en the plug. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the receiver comprises a three-way three-gang switch, the extra position being used for switching over to a pretuned long-wave circuit. In this embodiment the body of the plug comprises a U-shaped member with a U-shaped cover.
