Abstract
804,874. Radio receiving circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. April 5, 1957 [April 6, 1956], No. 11188/57. Class 40 (5). In a multi-band radio receiver each section, e.g. 16, of the ganged tuning condenser 16, 16<1> is switched, in a first switch position 1 in parallel with a corresponding medium-wave coil, 12; in a second position 2 parallel with a shortwave coil 13, and fixed padding condenser 17; and in further switch positions 3, 4 in parallel with the same short-wave coil but with interposition of fixed series padding condensers 19, 21 respectively, fixed parallel padding condensers 19, 21 respectively also being connected across the coil. Trimming condensers, e.g. 22, are provided for each tuning range. In a superheterodyne receiver fixed padding condensers 26, 27 are also connected in series with the corresponding medium and short-wave oscillator coils 28, 29 respectively and the values of the fixed series condensers 32, 33 associated with the oscillator switching circuits are chosen to provide correct tracking on the bands concerned.
