Abstract

381,048. Valve amplifying circuits. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C., 1, Lorenzweg, Tempelhof, Berlin. Jan. 16, 1932, No. 1371. Convention date, Jan. 31, 1931. [Class 40 (v).] A superheterodyne receiver for ultra-short waves is characterized by the use of an intermediate-frequency amplifier fitted with bandpass circuits, as shown in Fig. 3,, to accept a range of frequencies several times the width of the signal side-bands. For instance if S, Fig. 2, is the width of the modulated carrierwave, say 10 Kilocycles, the intermediate-frequency amplifier is designed to cover a frequency of 100 Kilocycles represented by the rectangle B. This avoids the necessity of accurately stabilizing the frequency of the local heterodyne oscillator, though the latter is approximately stabilized by being mainsdriven and by'deriving the operating voltages from a glow-discharge potential divider of the type described in Specification 313,075, [Class 40 (v), Wireless signalling &c.].
