Abstract

473,160. Pipe joints. PULSOMETER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and CARTER, H. C. June 26, 1936, No. 17792. [Class 99 (i)] The flange D of a resilient sleeve C, located between a spigot B and a socket A, is clamped against the end of the socket and the spigot is secured to the sleeve by means including one or more resilient members in such a way that there is no metallic contact between spigot and socket. The flange D is secured to lugs A3 on the socket by bolts F and a cover plate E, and the flange B<1> of the spigot is secured to flange D by bolts G each provided with a flanged resilient sleeve H. In a modification the spigot and socket members are screwed to the pipes and the flange of the resilient sleeve L, Fig. 4, is secured by a nut M having an extension M<1> with an internal flange which compresses a washer N against a flange K<2> on the spigot.
