Abstract
398,592. Pipe joints. LANE & SONS, Ltd., J. and CLIFF, E. A., 1, Dickinson Street, Manchester. May 10, 1932, No. 13401. [Class 99 (i).] In a joint between a lead pipe A and a hard metal pipe B having an end flange b, Fig. 1, the end of the lead pipe is flared to form a flange a which is compressed against the face of the flange b by a coupling member E coacting with the latter, a hard metal washer D being interposed between the back of the flange a and the member E. Fig. 5 shows a joint between two lead pipes A, A<1>, the flared ends of the pipes being compressed against the ends of a tubular hard metal block B<1>, preferably with the interposition of leather &c. washers F. In a modification, Fig. 7, the block is replaced by a hard metal washer B<2>. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 16349/99, [Class 99, Pipes &c.], 12384/11, and 165,925, [both in Class 99 (i), Pipes and tubes, Joints &c. for].
