Abstract

504,506. Electrically - heated pipes ; joints. HEJDUK, F., and NEUMANN, J. May 19, 1938, No. 14962. Convention date, May 19, 1937. [Classes 99 (i) and 99(ii)] [Also in Group XI] An electrically-heated pipe for viscous liquids is bifurcated, each branch having an insulated joint 9<1>, the secondary windring of a transformer 8 being connected to each branch adjacent the joint. The pipe connection at 2 is preferably insulated. In a modification one branch only has a joint, the tramsformer leads being connected on each side of it. The joint comprises an insulating disc 9 and resilient gaskets 11 clamped between the flanges 10 by bolts 12. Each bolt has an insulating sleeve 13, and the bolt head and nut bear on a metal washer 14 and insulating washer 15.
