472,260. Brush - gear. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and OLDHAM, T. J. F. March 18, 1936, No. 8136. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXXVII] In control gear for an alternating-current variable speed motor, comprising a pilot motor 1, operating, through gearing, a pair of pinions 15, 17, engaging racks 16, 18, secured to the brush-gear 19, 20, of the main motor, and cams 21 mounted on one of the gear shafts driven by the pilot motor to open the pilot motor circuit when the brushes reach their end positions, projections 26a, 26b carried by one of the gear wheels are arranged to engage a fixed stop 27 to prevent further movement being transmitted to the pinions when the brushes reach the end of their travel, and a friction clutch 5 is interposed between the pilot motor and the gear wheel carrying the stops so as to prevent energy stored in the rotor of the pilot motor from being transmitted to the stops.
